About Us Union Hook, Ladder and Heavy Rescue Company was founded in 1954 as part of the original North West Islip Volunteer Fire Company Inc. The Company was housed at what is now Station 1 on Watts Places in the north end of West Islip.
Today, the Company is stationed at Fire Headquarters, 309 Union Boulevard West Islip, New York.
History of Company 4 The Company's first piece of apparatus was an ambulance and in addition to firematic duties, was in charge of responding to medical emergencies until the inception of the Rescue Squad in 1987.
Some of the Company's earliest pieces of equipment included an 85 foot Young Snorkel, a walk in style heavy rescue truck mounted on a Ford chassis, and a Cadillac ambulance.
